It’s here! The entire Alabama family has the opportunity to come together and lift up the next generation of legends. The University of Alabama explains Bama Blitz as “an inspiring online fundraising event for alumni, faculty, staff, students and friends to come together and support The University of Alabama. Using the power of social media and crowdfunding, you can give back and pay forward in support of your favorite cause, college or program.”

What are passion projects?

Each participating group has a passion project with a set goal to be raised. Here are three  stand-out picks for consideration:

  1. Reaching Rural Alabama: The Capstone College of Nursing is dedicated to preparing nurses that will be the positive change and impact needed in Alabama’s medically underserved areas.

“It is our hope that empowering students with the ability to provide patient-centered, culturally appropriate care to individuals who otherwise would not have access to health services will create a desire in the next generation of nurses to practice in underserved areas.”

  1. Fabrication Lab: “As the only interior design program in the southeast without its own fabrication lab, the College of Human Environmental Sciences invites you to contribute towards this year’s Passion Project: The FabLab.”

This “FabLab” would provide endless opportunities for students to investigate a range of materials, develop prototypes, provide an open environment for material-based learning and research, and house equipment needed for The University of Alabama to remain competitive with nationwide interior design programs. The lab would allow students and faculty to produce products such as scale models of interiors/buildings, furniture, light fixtures and more.

Providing the latest in digital fabrication technology will enable students with the tools needed to lead at the forefront of the industry of beauty and innovation.

  1. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – This fund supports the important work of providing educational programs, delivering essential resources, fostering collaborative partnerships, and creating helpful spaces like the Safe Zone Resource Center and the Intercultural Diversity Center. Both centers provide essential programs and resources for the entire University community.

“Your gift will play a key role in UA’s aim of enriching the campus learning and working environments by providing an accepting, inclusive community that attracts and supports a diverse faculty, staff and student body.”

Who can contribute to Bama Blitz?

Anyone! Bama Blitz is open for individuals and organizations to come together in support of Alabama’s future. Supporting these passion projects will directly impact student’s experiences on campus, preparing them to be contributing members of society and pouring resources into the expansion of Tuscaloosa’s economy; ultimately impacting the growth of Alabama the beautiful.
