When someone’s passion turns into a business, that passion acts as an intrinsic motivator to grow, endure, and produce only the best, high-quality products.
That’s what happened when Marina Caycedo decided to transform her passion for beauty and skincare into a business that aims to help women look and feel their best.
Caycedo founded MyRainBerry in 2021, but it was an arduous process to get there. After studying cosmetology in her early 20s, she didn’t know which direction she wanted to take. “For years, I explored different areas of the beauty industry, like hair and nails, until one day, I had a strong feeling that I had to change my job to help people. I didn’t know exactly what I should do,” she recalls.
One day, her husband took her to a skincare store and suggested she make similar products, but products with all-natural ingredients. Originally from Uzbekistan, Caycedo was already passionate about using local Uzbek herbs, plants, and flowers.
As many of us know personally, a business begins with a vision and a dream—but it takes immense dedication and hard work to make that dream a reality. For Caycedo, this meant many sleepless nights while trying to balance life as an entrepreneur and mom.
“At that early stage, I was a mom of three, and my two youngest were under two years old,” she explains. “Even with those long nights, I committed to get up at five AM to study while my little ones were still asleep. Sometimes, my hands were shaking because I was so tired, but I had my passion, love, and a clear goal on what I wanted to do and where I wanted to be. And, here I am, six years later.”
Since founding MyRainBerry, Caycedo has grown her business as both a certified cosmetologist and an organic skincare formulator. What’s even better is that the brand has an open vegan lab, where anyone can observe how their skincare products are crafted with full transparency. “You get to sit at the chef’s table,” Caycedo says.
MyRainBerry offers a wide range of skincare products, which are all made in their local lab which protects against any cross-contamination. From small-batch shampoo bars to restorative face masks, Caycedo seeks to create products that help women feel beautiful as they age gracefully. But their products are for anyone who’s seeking a natural and holistic approach to skincare that truly works, she explains.
“All of our products incorporate the finest botanical extracts and fresh oils chosen for their scientific properties and known ability to nourish the skin– and they are all made right here in Birmingham, Alabama to organic and vegan standards.”
These natural products contain an impressive array of herbs, florals, and even some surprising spices. One shampoo contains cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, and cinnamon, which help stimulate blood circulation to the hair follicles to promote hair growth. Caycedo knows that natural is best, and we can take cues of how to take care of our hair and skin from nature itself.
Caycedo is not only passionate about making natural products that work; she also consistently seeks out ways to make the products beautiful themselves. “For the shampoo bars, we use lots of herbs and flowers that give a lovely color,” she says. From a pale purple lavender and coconut shampoo to a sunny yellow papaya shampoo, every product is made with both functionality and aesthetics in mind.
Besides their line of products, the company also offers a wide range of spa services, such as their signature facial to their newest treatment, a buccal face massage which targets the deepest facial muscles to reduce tension and sculpt your jawline.
The MyRainBerry spa utilizes all of the vegan lab’s locally-made products in their spa services, something that Caycedo takes great pride in. “In our spa, we use only freshly made, natural facial masques, which our guests can purchase to add to their skincare regimen. Additionally, every one of our skincare products contains vegan probiotics that help to balance the flora of the skin.”
With such care for detail and genuine thoughtfulness for every ingredient used, it’s clear that Caycedo values transparency in everything her lab makes—but her greatest focus is on who these products are for—her clients. “I love to see how our guests’ skin glows and eyes shine from happiness after using our products or leaving the spa after their procedure. It makes all my hard work worth it and reinforces the belief that my mission is to help people feel happier and more relaxed.”
