1881 Denim

Birmingham’s creative scene is getting something fresh, immersive, and just a little mysterious this weekend. 1881: Denim Edition—a curated, speakeasy-style social experience—lands at Sloss Furnaces on Saturday, November 22, from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Created for the city’s creatives, tastemakers, and culture lovers, 1881 is the brainchild of curator Randall Porter. The concept takes its name from the year Sloss was founded and is designed to usher in intentional, artistic energy as the historic site moves into its next chapter of redevelopment.

Part of the allure? Guests never get the full picture upfront. True to its speakeasy spirit, 1881 reveals only one new detail each day leading up to the event—keeping attendees guessing and the anticipation high.

Here’s what’s been unveiled so far:

  • ReVIBEal will handle production and offer a custom photo booth experience.

  • Two DJs will set a dual-sound, late-night vibe.

  • Ralph’s Listening Room is crafting the complimentary cocktails included with every ticket.

  • Ladybird Taco will provide the late night bites—also included in the $40 admission.

  • And yes, a special surprise activation is still under wraps.

Guests are encouraged to show up in denim—any interpretation, any style—as part of the night’s creative energy.

The exact location within Sloss Furnaces will remain secret until this Friday, when it’s revealed on Instagram at @1881bhm.

If you’re looking for a uniquely Birmingham night out that blends culture, creativity, and a hint of mystery, 1881 is the place to be this weekend.
