We are only weeks away from this year’s Wetumpka Wildlife Arts Festival, and as the excitement continues to build, it is time to take a look at one of the most highly anticipated events at this year’s festival. The Floral Design Workshop with Sybil Sylvester, Founder of Wildflower Designs, and Margot Shaw, Founder of Flower Magazine is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that is sure to impress.

“Margot Shaw connected me with Cindy Harris and the folks with the festival and I was happy to jump on board and create an event for the Wetumpka Wildlife Arts Festival. Wetumpka is a hidden gem in Alabama and the perfect location for all the events within the event. I’ll be teaching a flower arranging class including some ‘wild’ elements!”

Sybil Sylvester, Founder of Wildflower Designs

Sybil, a talented local floral artist, brings something new to the industry through her Birmingham-based business Wildflower. She considers Wildflower to be a creative think tank as it extends beyond simple arrangement by offering design and delivery as well as wedding planning. With a desire to share her knowledge with others, she established the Wildflower School more than two decades ago where she offers her expertise to those interested in developing their floral design skills.

“I’m delighted to be visiting the Wetumpka Wildlife Arts Festival for the first time, and to promote the glorious gift of ‘flowering’ with the tremendously talented Sybil Sylvester. Beauty, especially natural beauty, is so good for the soul!”

Margot Shaw, Founder of Flower Magazine, first discovered her passion for florals when planning her daughter’s wedding. As she saw the incredible work that went into florals for such an event, she was inspired to take up the art of arrangement. She had the opportunity to become an apprentice under a talented floral designer and she was quickly inspired to start exploring her passion further. Disappointed in her lack of publications on the topic, she set out to produce and launch the first issue of Flower Magazine.

Led by two industry experts with incredible stories of dedication to floral design, this year’s workshop promises a unique opportunity to discover the impactful art of flower arrangement. Attendees of all skill levels will have the chance to get a hands-on education on this timeless craft by learning the basics of floral design and how to add beauty to the atmosphere of any occasion.
