The Hope Farm

Tucked along Alabama’s picturesque Gulf Coast, The Hope Farm has quickly become a must-visit spot for locals and visitors alike—and once you know the story behind it, it’s easy to see why.

What began in June 2020 as a modest wine bar has since grown into a 6,000-square-foot restaurant and gathering place, founded by father-son team Robert and Bentley Evans. Neither had formal restaurant experience when they started. What they did have was a love of community, a passion for sustainable farming, and a commitment to thoughtful hospitality—and that combination has turned The Hope Farm into one of the region’s most celebrated dining destinations, earning a James Beard semifinalist nod for its wine program.

At the heart of it all is the farm itself. Using hydroponic systems, the team grows pesticide-free produce year-round, conserving water while keeping the harvest fresh and constant. From the signature Mushroom Toast to the vibrant greens and herbs scattered throughout the menu, much of what lands on your plate was grown just steps from where you’re sitting.

That farm-driven philosophy shapes everything The Hope Farm does—pairing what’s grown on-site with locally sourced meats, Gulf seafood, and regional ingredients. Add in innovative “garden-to-glass” cocktails and a wine program with genuine national recognition, and it’s easy to see why the menu feels less like a list of dishes and more like a reflection of the land it comes from.

But The Hope Farm has never been just a restaurant; it’s a true gathering place and community fixture. Its inviting outdoor spaces and year-round event programming bring people together for weddings, live music, wine classes, pop-ups, and more. A patio dinner here can feel like pulling up a chair in a friend’s backyard, while the nearby Barn keeps things casual with coffee, pastries, and a laid-back lunch menu.

This September, that same spirit shows up in two events worth marking on your calendar.
