According to Patch.com, “The Northport City Council on Monday unanimously approved an economic development incentive package consisting of a sales tax rebate to lure a popular steakhouse to the city. The resolution was taken up during Monday night’s regular meeting and authorizes a project development agreement between the city and Diamond Jim’s & Mrs. Donna’s of Northport, LLC.”

The proposed location of the new steakhouse would be on Highway 43 across from Los Tarascos, filling a long-vacant site.  The goal is not only to develop this location but also to provide Northport residents with additional sit-down dining options.

Big Mike’s Steakhouse originally opened in Thomasville, but has since expanded to locations in Andalusia, Orange Beach, Moundville, Auburn, and Guntersville.  The restaurant prides itself on bringing an incredible steak eating experience to people of small towns, without the expense or drive that comes with a trip to a big city steakhouse.  The menu features crowd pleasing appetizers such as smoked tuna dip, crab claws, and fried mushrooms.  A variety of steak options will please guests, as well as non-steak entrees, including seafood and chicken. To complete the meal, classic southern desserts are available and differ by location.

This new dining option will certainly be a welcome attraction to the city of Northport and its residents in surrounding areas.
